Ridgeway Plaza Restaurants: A Guide to Mississauga's Halal Food Destination

If you live in Mississauga, you already know the phenomenon. Somewhere along Eglinton Avenue and Ridgeway Drive, a plaza appeared that turned into a full-blown food destination — the kind of place people drive in from across the GTA, and beyond, just to eat.

That's Ridgeway Plaza, and we're lucky enough to call the neighbourhood home.

What is Ridgeway Plaza?

Ridgeway Plaza is a large commercial development in the Churchill Meadows neighbourhood of Mississauga, at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue and Ridgeway Drive. According to public reports, it opened in 2022 and is made up of two sections — the Erin Mills Centre to the north and the Platinum Centre to the south — spanning hundreds of units.

What made it famous is the food. It quickly became one of the largest halal food destinations in the area, packed with restaurants serving a huge range of regional cuisines, and a genuine late-night gathering spot. On a warm weekend evening, the Ridgeway Plaza restaurants have the energy of a food festival that never ends.

Why it works

A few things make Ridgeway Plaza special compared to a normal strip mall:

• Density. Dozens of food options in walking distance means you can graze, compare, and come back for more.
• Halal-first. For Mississauga's large Muslim community, it's rare to have this much choice in one place with confidence that the kitchen is halal.
• Late-night culture. This isn't a lunch-and-leave plaza. It comes alive after dark, which fits the way a lot of the city actually likes to eat and socialize.
• Variety. Regional South Asian, Middle Eastern, fusion, desserts, coffee — it's all represented.

How to do a night at Ridgeway Plaza

Here's the move we'd recommend if you're coming for the full experience:

1. Start by grazing. Try a couple of the quick-serve spots — a roll here, a dessert there.
2. Then sit down. After you've walked it off, settle in somewhere with real seating where you can actually relax for a couple of hours.
3. End with hookah and the game. The right cap to the night is a hand-packed hookah, a mocktail, and whatever match is on the screens.
